He scored 22.2 points, pulled down 3.9 rebounds, and dished out 4.4 assists on average. DeRozan played for the Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and San Antonio Spurs before joining the Kings. Notably, DeRozan has not had a successful season with the Kings, raising doubts over his future going into the offseason.
DeMar DeRozan opened up on his future with the Kings after the recent loss to the Mavs
DeMar DeRozan has been a consistent player for whichever teams he has featured in the NBA over his career. Most recently, DeRozan played for the Sacramento Kings this 2024-25 NBA season. However, overall, the Kings were poor this season as they got knocked out by the Mavs in the play-in tournament.
About this, DeRozan opened up after the Mavs’ loss regarding his season with the Kings and his future plans in the NBA.
It’s difficult. I’m not trying to play another five, six years. You’ve only got so many years. That window closes quick. When you think about it from that perspective, it’s definitely tough. You don’t get many opportunities and you don’t wanna waste the opportunities that you have left either… The next few days I’ll sit and think.

According to reports, the Kings parted ways with general manager Monte McNair an hour after Wednesday’s game ended. This showcases unrest in and around the Kings’ franchise. This shows, DeRozan was correct that many decisions were made from the top down. Given that, DeRozan will probably be pushed away by this circumstance because the Kings’ future is still uncertain.
DeMar DeRozan on ‘uncertainty’ around the Kings this season
The Sacramento Kings have had one of the most uncertain seasons in the NBA, with the franchise finishing out of the playoff berths. Despite possessing the likes of DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis, and Malik Monk, the Kings performed poorly. DeRozan recently spoke to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee discussing the uncertainty of the franchise.
I think all year we had such an uncertainty of everything. You can’t really operate in any successful environment if you have so much uncertainty, so I think for me, just the uncertainty of what it’s going to be going forward.

DeRozan’s words do make sense, especially with how the Kings’ management has dealt with decisions all season. First, they sacked their former head coach, Mike Brown. Then they traded their star player De’Aaron Fox, to the San Antonio Spurs. These decisions have contributed in the Kings’ downfall this campaign.
