It is official, the Detroit Lions have lost more in one week than they won all year. The best team in the NFC North has lost both its coordinators after the New York Jets’ recent move to hire Aaron Glenn.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the New York Jets finalized him as the next head coach of the franchise after going through multiple rounds of interviews with him. With this move, the Jets will have an HC who was drafted by the team and spent eight seasons playing in the Big Apple.
Apart from the Jets, Aaron Glenn was being considered by the New Orleans Saints for their top coaching job. The Jets wasted no time in finalizing the deal as any delay would have risked losing him after weeks of interviewing potential candidates for this role.

Aaron Glenn has landed his first Head Coaching role with the Jets
Glenn began his coaching journey in the NFL in 2014 and after a decade, he finds himself in the top spot. However, he takes on a job that most of his peers dread. The New York Jets face more uncertainty than ever. The team struggled with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams this season before finishing with a 5-12 record.
Robert Saleh was fired halfway into the season and interim HC Jeff Ulbrich was unable to prevent the Jet from crashing. One of his top priorities would be to get a definitive answer from Aaron Rodgers concerning his future with the Jets.
The prevailing question, will one Aaron be able to convince the other Aaron to stay around? Glenn had a rough final season with the Lions as he had all the key defensive pieces but not lady luck. With 13 of his starters on IR, he was compelled to make do with the players he had, and to his credit, he did his best. However, it was not enough to beat Washington.
Glenn had a second interview and his first in-person meeting with the Jets after the Lions’ loss earlier this week. Apart from him, the team had reached out to Rex Ryan, Ron Rivera, Matt Nagy, Steve Spagnuolo, and Arthur Smith to interview for the HC role but given his success with turning defenses around, Glenn seemed to fit the role best.
Fortunately for him, fans of the team remain uncertain of what to expect from this team. Ironically, that is a good thing because Aaron Rodgers was expected to take this team to the Super Bowl and that didn’t turn out the way that it should have. Hopefully, the Jets will finally take off with Glenn in the pilot seat.
