The New York Jets had high hopes for the 2023-24 season. With Aaron Rodgers back in the lineup healthy, it was Super Bowl or bust for this talented team. As the season progressed, it became more and more evident that this team was all hype and no substance.

After the Jets lost 32-26 to the Miami Dolphins in Week 14 Sunday, the team has been eliminated from playoff contention. The Jets and Rodgers will play out the rest of their season while hoping to find answers for next year. Aaron Rodgers, who has been dubbed the problem of the team, was not the issue in the team’s loss tonight.

The four-time NFL MVP had his best game in 1,092 days. Rodgers had his first game passing for over 300 yards, a feat he has not accomplished since December 12, 2021.

In addition to this, Rodgers connected with Davante Adams for the duo’s 79th career touchdown. They surpassed Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown to become the 4th most TDs by a QB-WR duo in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers took accountability for the Jets’ failure this season

The Dolphins forced the game to overtime and the Jets lost the coin toss which resulted in Tua Tagovailoa and Miami’s offense getting the first shot to score. They wound up scoring on the drive. This loss makes Tagovailoa 6-0 against the Jets and it marks the Jets’ ninth straight loss in Miami.

Aaron Rodgers held himself accountable for the team’s underwhelming season after the game.

Yeah the expectations were high, and we didn’t reach them. Not anywhere close. We just didn’t figure out how to win enough games, I didn’t play good enough in crunch times, that’s why we’re sitting here with the record we’ve got.

Aaron Rodgers said

Fans have grown frustrated with the quarterback and the team. Here’s how they expressed their disappointment with the franchise on X:

Despite the team’s underwhelming season, Rodgers is not the sole reason for their downfall. What the Jets require is an experienced and respectable figure as Head Coach.

With the right coaching, this team can unlock its true potential. However, the question remains if Rodgers will return to the Jets for another year or has the NFL seen the last of him.
