New York Knicks star claims to be ‘lost’ about role ahead of new season
Josh Hart sparks concerns and confusion about his role with the New York Knicks as the new NBA season approaches.
Josh Hart not sure about his place on the Knicks roster
It’s fair to say that Josh Hart didn’t have the best preseason with just two points in five games. Hart is an important role player for the New York Knicks who can contribute on both sides of the court. As a result, his performance has raised concerns about his role with the revamped New York Knicks.
Last season, the Knicks star had a decent run as he averaged 10.6 field goal attempts per game in 42 starts. However, that run continuing this coming season remains complicated with the arrival of Mikal Bridges. Now, Josh Hart himself acknowledged that he feels lost as the regular season approaches.
Hart remains a beloved figure at the Madison Square Garden as his hustle in previous seasons made him a key role player for the team. It resulted in the Knicks making the playoffs for two consecutive years. Now, the blockbuster trade comes with new challenges that Hart must take on.
Josh Hart says he’s unsure about his current role with Knicks and hints at moving to bench:

“I’m lost. I have no idea… There’s a couple days before we have until Boston. So whether that’s trying to get a rhythm with that starting unit or we give somebody else a look and my role… pic.twitter.com/d2kdsVZxU9
Moreover, the Knicks star has recognized that his scoring will take a backseat. But his two-way impact and scoring prowess cannot be ignored. Last season, Donte DiVincenzo didn’t like his role with the team and left the Knicks. It remains to be seen if Hart can manouver around the new role.
New York Knicks star addresses father’s verbal altercation with Donte DiVincenzo
While Josh Hart isn’t okay with his new status in the roster, Jalen Brunson aired his mind on the verbal exchange that occurred between his father, Rick Brunson, and former teammate Donte DiVincenzo. The altercation occurred during the first meeting between the teams since the blockbuster trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns and Julius Randle.
According to Jalen Brunson, who spoke on the Roommates Show podcast, the issue seems to have been resolved. Moreover, he acknowledged that emotions can run high in competitive environments, leading to unnecessary comments.
DiVincenzo’s exit came as a shock as he had a breakout season where he averaged 15.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. He will now focus on making an impact with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Meanwhile, Brunson, Hart and the Knicks will focus on challenging the Boston Celtics to emerge as finalists from the Eastern Conference.
