Tyrese Haliburton has made it a habit of beating the New York Knicks in the playoffs. Over the past two seasons, he has led his Indiana Pacers to beat the Big Apple franchise twice in back-to-back seasons to advance.
Both times, the Pacers faltered on the next step. In 2024, they lost to the Boston Celtics after defeating the Knicks in the Eastern Conference semis. Last season, they dispatched the Knicks in the East finals, before losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
This run could have led many New Yorkers to believe that they would have had a chance to fight for the title, had they beaten their rivals. However, it is easier said than done, as the team’s inconsistent and predictable play was easy for the Pacers to overcome.
Last season, New Yorkers displayed their true feelings for the Pacers when they harassed a fan wearing Tyrese Haliburton’s jersey after a win. The WWE’s Summer Slam was taking place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Those passionate fans had another opportunity to direct their dissent at their rivals. This time, it was the point guard himself who drew boos when he was introduced to the fans.
Yes. Yes. I love you too.

As usual, the injured Tyrese Haliburton had his trademark smile on his face when he was cheering those fans. He seemed to enjoy the reception and egged them on to continue jeering him.
Basketball fans slam Knicks fans for booing Tyrese Haliburton
Basketball fans were furious when they saw clips of this incident. Tyrese Haliburton was supposed to be the beacon of good basketball, but his momentum was cut short by a devastating Achilles tear.
They believe that instead of being supportive of one of the game’s best breakout stars, the New York Knicks fans proved once again how petty they are. At a time when the entire sporting world had united to offer support to the 25-year-old, only these fans could be so heartless.
Some believe Knicks fans are proving over and over again that they are the worst fans in the world. Instead of showing respect to the injured star, they had to bring their pettiness to the forefront. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Tyrese Haliburton might be enjoying all of this, as he loves it when opponents or their fans disrespect or undermine him. He thrives on the underdog mindset and could probably use this to fuel his recovery.
Tyrese Haliburton trolls New Yorkers
As a huge self-proclaimed fan of the WWE, Tyrese Haliburton was at MetLife Stadium to watch Summer Slam. He was ringside at the night’s major event between John Cena and Cody Rhodes, and even had a role to play in it.

After his indirect interference did not work out, the 25-year-old’s attention shifted to the videos of New Yorkers booing him. He decided to add insult to injury with an epic troll.
Missed y’all too NY.

There won’t be any chances to get back at New York Knicks fans next season, after he was officially ruled out of the 2025-26 campaign. The Pacers expect him to focus on complete recovery, which would usually take a year.
Missed y’all too NY🧡💙 https://t.co/oi6THLxz71

He will then be aching to come back in the 2026-27 campaign and resume his battle against the Knicks. He does have a few friends playing for that franchise, but when it comes to competition, they usually forget about that camaraderie.
