President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden faced the wrath of basketball fans on Twitter. This comes in after the San Diego State Aztecs (SDSU) lost to Connecticut Huskies in the NCAA Tournament Championship.
Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, had earlier suggested that the runner-up team, Iowa Hawkeyes, should be called to the White House despite losing to the champions, LSU Tigers. Pundits and players across the sport spewed harsh criticism of this statement by Jill Biden. Angel Reese exclusively pointed out that the First Lady’s invite was “a joke” as the latter wanted to have the losing team come to the presidential quarters for having played a ”good game”.
Though Reese might have just been unappreciative of Jill Biden’s invite, Twitter didn’t let the old invitation slide. The matter was brought back up again after SDSU lost to the Huskies in a similar fashion as Iowa. SDSU conceded a 17-point defeat to the Huskies, and fans suggested that with Jill Biden’s logic, the losers should also be invited to the White House, despite being “thrashed.”

Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins followed with 17 and 16 points, respectively. For the Aztecs, Keshad Johnson led the board with 14 in an inadequate effort.
The entire world celebrated the Huskies’ victory. What was also greatly discussed was the probability of the Aztecs being invited to the White House. Jill Biden had initially suggested that she would ask President Biden to invite Iowa state to the White House. This was because the team played a “good game”, and therefore people feel that the Aztecs could have a shot at the same.
