Former Tampa Bay Lightning player, Ondrej Palat signed a 5-year $30 million deal with the New Jersey Devils on Thursday with an annual average value of $6 million. The forward scored 49 points with 18 goals and 31 assists in 77 regular-season games.

He further recorded 21 points in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games last season. He was part of the Lightning’s 2022 final Cup game until the team lost to Colorado Avalanche 1-2 during the final run.

The 31-year-old scored the game-winning goal in Games 3 and 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers, and Game 5 of the Cup Finals. Ondrej Palat recorded 12 game-winning goals in the NHL playoffs.

Before the 2022 Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning picked him up in the 2011 Draft. Till now he has a total of 423 points with 143 goals, and 280 assists in 628 regular-season games while scoring 98 points in 128 playoff games.

According to nhl.com, aside from signing Palat, the New Jersey Devils have also acquired forward Erik Haula in trade for Boston Bruins and defenceman Brendan Smith to a 2-year $2.2 million contract.
