Alex Sarr

Alex Sarr the 19-year-old French basketball player, is generating buzz ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft. There, he is expected to be the first player taken off the board. Sarr recently appeared on Paul George’s podcast, where he left the nine-time NBA All-Star astonished by his height (7’1″) and potential.

Sarr’s size and skill have drawn comparisons to Victor Wembanyama, another French player who has excelled in the NBA. Wembanyama won the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award and finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year race, setting a high bar for Sarr to follow.

Paul George asked Alex Sarr on his podcast:

“How tall are you?”

Alex Sarr responded:

“7’1.”

Paul George then responded:

“7.1. God, what are they doin’ in France?”

Alex Sarr then said:

“I was always tall. When I was 14, I went from like 6’8 to like 7-foot.”

Despite the comparisons, Sarr is looking to carve his own path in the basketball world. He has already gained attention from scouts and has played for the Overtime Elite and the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL), where he averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 24 games.

The 2024 NBA Draft will take place on June 26-27, with the first round held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Sarr’s impressive combination of size, length, and skill has him poised to be a top pick, and he will look to make a name for himself in the NBA.
