23-year old Vinicius Jr., who shone with the Los Blancos this season and helped them win the La Liga and the UCL, is being viewed as a Ballon d’Or candidate. He has been Neymar Jr‘s teammate on the Brazilian national team since 2019. Vini has played alongside the former Barcelona star 16 times, including a goal they combined for during the 2022 World Cup. Both of them happen to be good friends, allowing them to laugh off Neymar’s outrageous comment.

In a recent video of the 32-year-old forward’s interview on VIVA Sport, he was asked to identify the ugliest player he had played with. However, his answer could stir tensions between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The former PSG star humorously mentioned that he had played with many unattractive players but, with all due respect, singled out Vini Jr. as the most unattractive. He later laughed and added that he loves the Madrid star more than ever.

The Real Madrid star might find it difficult to see the funny side of Neymar’s comment, given Brazil’s disappointing start to their Copa America campaign. Vinicius Jr., in particular, had a tough night, failing to register a shot or complete a single dribble.

Neymar Jr. was spotted in the stands for Brazil’s Copa America 2024 opener against Costa Rica, at the SoFi Stadium in California, USA. The 32-year-old is missing the tournament due to an ACL injury he sustained in November 2024.

The Selecao, who are, as always, one of the favorites to lift the trophy, have been criticized by fans and former players alike, for excluding notable players from the Copa America squad. Neymar, being one of them, suffered the ACL injury while playing for Brazil last year and has not played since. However, he was seen in the stands supporting his team, accompanied by his close friend and NBA star Jimmy Butler.

They were seen celebrating Brazilian captain Marquinhos‘ goal, which was later disallowed after a VAR review. The match ultimately ended in a goalless draw as Brazil began their Copa America campaign.
