On Sunday, January 25, the Los Angeles Rams are set to play their first NFC Championship game since winning the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. The wait has been a lot longer for the Seattle Seahawks, who last qualified for this stage back in 2014.
The Seahawks bagged the top seed in the NFC by finishing 14-3 in the regular season. Seattle earned a bye and home playoff ties. Mike Macdonald‘s team decimated the injury-laden 49ers in the divisional round. Sam Darnold, who played despite carrying an oblique injury, threw for 124 passing yards and one touchdown pass to WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Running back Kenneth Walker had a career game. Walker rushed 19 times for 116 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the fifth-seeded Rams had to overcome challenges from the Panthers and the Bears. Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed a total of 44 passes for 550+ yards, 3 touchdowns, and one pick. That being said, Stafford threw those TDs in the Panthers game. He struggled to perform in the chilly Chicago weather. Running back Kyren Williams bailed the Rams out with 2 scores and 87 yards from 21 carries.
Stafford was 1-1 against Seattle in the regular season. He holds a 7-4 record all-time against the Seahawks, throwing for 3,086 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in those matchups.
