In the next few days, the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles will face one another in an attempt to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. It will be the culmination of a lifetime of hard work for these athletes, and each team’s storylines are equally interesting.

The visiting Commanders feature a rookie quarterback and a Head Coach in his first season going against all odds to signal the start of their dominance. The home team, Philadelphia Eagles have never looked this great and their success has been largely due to the arrival of running back Saquon Barkley.

Why can the Washington Commanders win?

The Commanders have the public vote with them. Fans have been in awe of Jayden Daniels‘ phenomenal performance as a rookie. He has a veteran presence on the field and in clutch moments, he tends to become better rather than let the weight of the pressure consume him. His connection with Terry McLaurin has been phenomenal.

The Commanders’ performance against the Detroit Lions, the best team in the NFC showcased that their offense fears none. They are capable of dropping 40+ points if needed. This Sunday, another star will rise for the Commanders. Tight end Zach Ertz who spent his time in Philadelphia finds himself pitted against the team.

The last time Washington was in the NFC Championship, Jayden Daniels was not born. The team has not made it this far since 1991 and this year, the team looks capable of making it to the Super Bowl.

Why can the Philadelphia Eagles win?

Two words, Saquon Barkley. The Eagles will put their workhorse to full use as he has been dominant since Week 1. The team’s quarterback Jalen Hurts is looking calm and comfortable in his role. Last week, he nearly left the game with a knee injury after a hip-drop tackle but returned shortly after wearing a knee brace to finish the game.

During the regular season, the divisional rivals faced one another twice and the series is tied at 1-1. The Eagles will have a chance to win when it counts the most and the team has never been as balanced as it is.

Their defense is dominating. Philly gave up the fewest yards per game and ranked second in points allowed per game. Jayden Daniels and the Commanders did beat Detroit but a key factor to take into account is that he faced the B-team of their defense.

However, this week the rookie will go up against one of the more dominant defenses in the league. Ultimately, the Eagles’ success lies in the hands of Saquon Barkley because whenever he has had a great game, the team has won, and the same is to be expected on Sunday.
