NFL 2025 Schedule: Eagles get Short end of Stick as Chiefs, Cowboys Get Most Primetime Games
The NFL usually allots consecutive home games to the reigning Super Bowl champions, however, in the case of the Eagles, they have no consecutive home games this season.

The NFL has revealed the entire 2025-26 season schedule for all 32 teams. The list reveals how many primetime games each franchise gets, and unsurprisingly, the Dallas Cowboys sit second on the list with a total of six primetime games and two standalone games on Thanksgiving Thursday and Christmas, while Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs top the list with seven primetime games and one standalone game.
The NFL’s scheduling has created a new precedent. Usually, it is the reigning Super Bowl champions that are entitled to have the most primetime games; however, the Philadelphia Eagles will have 5 games in primetime, and interestingly, they will have no consecutive home games.
This makes Philadelphia the first defending champions to not play at their home field for consecutive weeks. Philly will kick off its season by facing divisional rivals Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in Week 1 at Lincoln Financial, but the league has awarded fans with a big treat at the start of the season. Fans will get a Super Bowl rematch as the Eagles take on the Chiefs in Week 2 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the Eagles’ schedule for the upcoming season:

The Eagles have a tight schedule, and their bye week doesn’t come until Week 9. Even though Philly is the reigning champion, the team finds itself in the company of the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers as they each have five primetime slots.
The Dallas Cowboys’ primetime berths confirm America’s team never fails to garner views
The NFL knew what it was doing with this schedule. It is not fair for the Eagles, who will be on the road every other week, however, the ultimate goal is to grab more views. That is one area in which the Dallas Cowboys seldom disappoint. Despite the franchise’s three-decade streak of losing early on in the playoffs, the Cowboys know how to be the talk of the town.

This is a team that managed to average 20+ million views per game despite finishing the season with a 7-10 record. The NFL, on average, had a viewership of 17 million last season. People may watch the Cowboys with the hopes of watching them lose yet again, however, they are still watching the game. The intent aside, America’s Team brings in the views, and Jerry Jones continues to make bank. This season, Dallas has an inexperienced HC, a fully recovered Dak Prescott, and an unpredictable character in George Pickens. This combination might not promise wins, but it does scream entertainment.
The #Eagles are the first defending champions in #NFL history to not have consecutive home games in the next season.

It is not surprising to see the Kansas City Chiefs get the most primetime games. After all, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce alone bring in millions of views. Add in the possibility of Taylor Swift being present at these games, and that brings in another few million viewers. Despite their loss to the Eagles in the Super Bowl, Kansas City is another team that fans and haters watch. Irrespective of the scheduling, it will be interesting to see how the season pans out for each of these teams.
