The New York Jets‘ QB Aaron Rodgers is never shy to voice his opinions. He hasn’t played this season but has managed to get in the news for his comments and opinions on multiple occasions. His illustrious NFL career is filled with a lot of controversies along with some glorious moments. However, he has dragged the popular talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, into his latest controversial opinion.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets poked fun at comedian Jimmy Kimmel by claiming that the late-night talk show host’s name would be on the client list of the late, convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein. This seemed to be just another chapter in the ongoing feud between the two, as Rodgers made the comments during his weekly appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’
There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, who are really hoping that doesn’t come out. I'll tell you what, if that list comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.Rodgers said on the show.
Kimmel did not seem amused by the jab he received from Rodgers on McAfee’s show, threatening to call lawyers if Rodgers kept poking him any further.
For the record, I’ve not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any ‘list’ other than the clearly-phony nonsense that soft-brained wackos like yourself can’t seem to distinguish from reality. Your reckless words put my family in danger. Keep it up and we will debate the facts further in court.Kimmel wrote on his X
So, what exactly is the Jeffrey Epstein list and why has it created so much controversy? Let’s look at the man behind it and the crimes he was involved in.
Who is Jeffery Epstein?
Jeffery Epstein was a financier and s*x offender. Epstein began his career at the Dalton School as a teacher even though he did not have a college degree. After his dismissal from the school, he entered the banking and finance sector, working at Bear Stearns in several roles before starting his own business.
Epstein, however, developed an elite social circle and procured many women and children whom he and his associates s*xually abused. In 2005, police in Florida began an investigation into Epstein after a parent of a 14-year-old girl accused him of s*xual abuse. In 2008, a Florida state court found Epstein guilty of both obtaining a child for prostitution and requesting a prostitute.
On July 6, 2019, Epstein was taken into custody once more on federal charges related to the s*x trafficking of minors in New York and Florida. On August 10, 2019, he passed away in his prison cell.
What is Jeffery Epstein’s list?
According to a senior court official, a list of nearly 200 friends, associates, victims, and opponents of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein will begin to be released Wednesday. The list of names was taken from hundreds of sealed court documents concerning Epstein, the accused sex trafficker who hanged himself in a jail cell in 2019. It is thought to include prominent figures in business, politics, and entertainment.
Numerous well-known people, including former presidents Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew, have been connected to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, his ex-girlfriend. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence after being found guilty in 2022 of s*x trafficking girls for Epstein. Another name that has been linked with the list is that of the late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel.
Virginia Giuffre, one of their accusers, included the sealed documents containing the names in a defamation lawsuit. The identities of the people referenced in the case’s public documents have up until now been concealed by the names “John Doe” and “Jane Doe.” The court documents contain 187 references to “J Doe,” many of which will now be referred to by their true names.
Distinguished academics, Hollywood stars, politicians, former presidents and prime ministers, and Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom—whom Giuffre also sued—were among Epstein’s network.
Why Aaron Rodgers doesn’t like Jimmy Kimmel?
The beef between the late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel and the New York Jets’ QB Aaron Rodgers started in 2021, when the then-Green Bay Packers QB tested positive for COVID-19. Kimmel referenced Rodgers taking a homeopathic treatment instead and then took a dig at Rodgers’ hairdo. Then, following Rodgers’ well-known declaration that he was “immunized,” Kimmel criticized him for misrepresenting his immunization status.
Days later, Rodgers’ anti-vaccine comments on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ that alluded to the “woke mob” drew further criticism from Kimmel. In addition, Kimmel took issue with Rodgers’ citation of a passage from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. about the moral duty to challenge unjust laws.
Following that, the one-sided dispute cooled off until February 2023, when Rodgers proposed a conspiracy theory regarding UFOs acting as a distraction following the potential revelation of Epstein’s client list. Kimmel called out Rodgers for his UFO theory and asked him to revisit the “concussion protocol.”
The New York Jets QB recently took a dig at Kimmel on The Pat McAfee Show while referencing the Epstein list. He claimed Kimmel might be on the list and is “hoping that doesn’t come out.” The late-night show host did not stay quiet after this interview and clapped back at Rodgers for his comments. He took to Twitter (now called as X) to slam Rodgers and called him “reckless” and “soft-brained wackos.”
