“He’d be a great fit for…” Adam Schefter has outrageous expectations for Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick has been rumored about an NFL return for a little while now. But with so many QB vacancies in 2022, can the former 49ers star find himself strapping a chinstrap in the NFL again?
The first signs of a possible return came in 2019 when the NFL organized a workout for Colin Kaepernick to essentially audition for interested teams. However, the QB pulled out before the workout.
Since then, Kaepernick has always hinted at being in shape for a return and it seems like 2022 is no different. He recently uploaded a video of him training with the caption “still working” indicating that he does believe he’s in shape for the NFL.
Adam Schefter saw this and gave his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick based on the video as well as some sources.
Adam Schefter believes Colin Kaepernick is ready for the NFL
In a recent tweet, Adam Schefter said “Colin Kaepernick is still working out and is said to be, in the words of one source, “in the best shape of his life. He wants to play. He’s ready to play. He would be a great fit for teams with QB vacancies to fill who want to win a Super Bowl.”
It’s certainly a bold claim given that Colin Kaepernick hasn’t suited up since the 2016 season. A year in which he started only 11 games, threw for 2241 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. The touchdown to interception ratio certainly isn’t bad but he won only 1 of those 11 games.
Kaepernick has shown that he can be a high-caliber NFL quarterback in the past. His 2012 and 2013 seasons alone are proof of that as he threw 31 touchdowns to 11 interceptions as well as rushed for 939 yards and 9 touchdowns in that span of time.
There are numerous teams that need a quarterback this offseason like the Colts and Seahawks. Only time will tell if they go after Colin Kaepernick or a less rusty NFL quarterback.
