“The Super Bowl was an awesome accomplishment,” Whitworth said as reported by NBC. Moreover, when he was asked if winning his first championship title played a role in his retirement decision, Whitworth claimed, “that’s not the most important thing in the world to me.”
“The most important thing in the world to me is that the people I’ve been around and live life with feel better being around me. Super Bowl trophies are great, Pro Bowls are great, Walter Payton Man of the Year is an amazing honor, but it doesn’t mean anything if from this day forward me and my family don’t treat people with the love and respect they deserve,” he added.
Moreover, after Whitworth’s retirement was confirmed, the NFL shared a video on it’s official Insta handle. The video showed Cooper Kupp and Whitworth sharing an emotional moment after winning the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals a little while ago.
“Hey this is for you man. We wanted this so bad for you, I love you man,” an emotional Cooper Kupp can be heard saying in the video. In reply, Whitworth says, “hell of a job dude, I appreciate it brother. I am going to be here for you, I might not be playing but I’ll be here for you.”
Indeed, Andrew has had a fantastic career and there was no better way to end it with a Super Bowl title.
