Baker Mayfield, the No.1 overall pick of the 2018 NFL draft is going through a rough patch of his career. Owing to his consistently declining performance and inability to win games, the Cleveland Browns decided to look for other options and found their fit in Deshaun Watson.
This doesn’t seem like a big issue since it happens to every other QB in the league. But the Browns dealt in bad faith as they failed to secure a trade for Bake Mayfield before welcoming their new leader on board. This turned Mayfield into a disease that nobody in the league wanted.

However, Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily in a recent interview said her husband “is great” and has been hitting the gym and “training a ton”. Baker has refused to let bad times hamper his future and focuses on sharpening his skills. Moreover, Baker is recovering from his offseason shoulder surgery.
During the interview with Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post, Emily Mayfield said life in the NFL has been a learning process. She opened up about what it is like to be the wife of an NFL quarterback. “Watching the person you love get scrutinized by the media when you see the hard work they put in, seeing all the falsehoods written in the media and having to bite my tongue.”
The Cleveland Browns were really obsessed with having former Texans QB Deshaun Watson lead them despite fighting several lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct. While Mayfield did have some success when he first came on board the Browns but soon lost his footing. But the Browns should’ve had a little faith in Baker’s ability and given him one last chance rather than treating him with such disrespect.
Cleveland’s new favorite has been getting into more legal trouble. He has been accused of bribing the plaintiffs with $100,000 to give up the case against him. Furthermore, another two more cases have been lodged against Watson bringing the total tally to 24. Given the current circumstances surrounding Watson, there might still be a chance that the Browns might need Mayfield to drag them out of this mess for most if not all of the 2022 season.
Let’s see what Mayfield decides if he is asked to fill in for Watson. There’s still a good chance that some of the teams like Seattle, and Panther might be interested in him given their lack of experience at the QB position.
