“After 10 years, it’s just simple communication,” Bobby Wagner lashes out at Seattle Seahawks management for his exit
Seattle Seahawks are going through a period of massive change at the franchise, as they let go of two of their most experienced players in the form of Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner. While Wilson’s departure had more to do with their financial struggles, Wagner’s one was more unexpected.
The franchise did not let Bobby Wagner know that he was going to be taken out of the franchise. He called out Pete Caroll and John Schneider for the lack of communication between the two parties after his trade move to the Los Angeles Rams.
Bobby Wagner expected basic communication from the franchise before his exit
After his trade to the Rams, Bobby Wagner called out his former franchise asking them for basic communication regarding such a big issue as this.
“I think after 10 years, it’s just simple communication,” Wagner told reporters shortly after signing his contract on Monday. “I don’t think it had to be that difficult.”
However, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider also released a statement on the issue and acknowledged that he could have made better communication with Wagner letting him know about the pending release from the franchise.
“I think after 10 years, it’s just simple communication. That’s on me. I own that. I wish I could’ve handled things better in that regard, from a communication standpoint,” Schneider said.
“I owe it to him, the organization owes it to him. It’s somewhat awkward when a player represents himself. We have had some very high-profile individuals represent themselves here.”
“You never know exactly what’s going to happen at the end of the day, so to approach somebody and say, ‘There may be a possible trade, would you consider this?’ and have that player come back to you, that’s not a good situation. From a timing standpoint, I wish I would’ve handled things differently.”
Bobby Wagner will want to prove himself at the Los Angeles Rams next season and it will be even better when his side takes on his former side next season. He has already said that facing them two times would be an extra motivation for him to perform.
