“I’m happy for him”: Brett Favre lauds Aaron Rodgers as one of the top 5 quarterbacks of all time

Aaron Rodgers etched his name onto the history books yet again as a Green Bay Packers quarterback. The 38-year old went past the legendary Brett Favre, surpassing his tally of 442 touchdown passes against the Cleveland Browns to lead his side to a close 24-22 victory in the NFL.

Rodgers proved his worth yet again for the Packers, as he not only scored 3 touchdowns but also covered 202 yards, catching 24 of his attempted 34 passes. A performance for the ages garnered praise from all corners of the world, and even from Brett Favre whom he surpassed.

Favre hailed Rodgers as one of the best quarterbacks in the league of all time, adding him to the Top-5 list, behind the legendary duo of Tom Brady and Joe Montana, who are considered the best players in the NFL of all time.

“I’m happy for him. I’m sure there’s some people out there who think that I’m sour grapes, why why would they would think that I have no idea,” Favre said of Aaron Rodgers.

“Aaron and I are good friends, and I’m pulling for him, and I think the only thing that surprises me is it took him this long, as prolific as he is. Obviously, that’s not a knock, I mean he is sort of like Brady, I don’t see any decline in his game, so he’s going to rewrite the record books for sure in Green Bay.”

However, Favre reckoned that the quarterback gets too much of everything be it praise or criticism, for losses and victories. Considering the most important statistic, which according to him is the Super Bowls, he felt Joe Montana and Tom Brady needs to be put right at the top.

For Rodgers, Favre said that he too would fall in the top-5 category and that it’s only a matter of generation that people recognise his greatness as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
