“I didn’t talk to anyone,” Brian Flores reveals his current relationship with Bill Belichick after text message debacle

“I didn’t talk to anyone,” Brian Flores reveals his current relationship with Bill Belichick after text message debacle

It has only been a few days since Brian Flores’ racism allegations against three NFL teams rocked the sporting world. The former Miami Dolphins accused the teams of holding sham interviews with him, just to abide by the Rooney rule when they did not want to give his candidature a fair shot in reality.

All of this emerged after, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick accidentally texted Brian Flores to congratulate him for landing the New York Giants head coach role. Belichick thought he was talking to Brian Daboll, congratulating him on getting the Giants head coaching job before Flores had even interviewed.

Brian Flores is not too keen to speak with Bill Belichick in the near future

Brian Flores revealed that he does not blame the New England Patriots coach for not landing the job eventually, although he believes Belichick must have had some influence on the decision to award it to Brian Daboll.

However, he strongly made it clear that he has not spoken with him since and would not engage in conversation with Belichick voluntarily and if it were to happen it would only happen during the NFL events.

“I mean there’s potential that we could — we could run into each other,” Flores said. “I mean I’d be open to a conversation. But, no . . . we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”

“I’m not mad. He sent a text message to the wrong person. I’m certainly guilty of that,” Flores said during his appearance on the “I am Athlete” podcast.

“To me, I thought it was specific to the lawsuit in that it confirmed a lot of things that I thought were going on, that I think a lot of Black and minority coaches think are going on. It kind of confirmed it for me.”
