The Cleveland Browns had to face a crushing defeat against the Green Bay Packers on the Christmas Day matchup. Browns QB Baker Mayfield had the worst performance of his career for which he was brutally reprimanded by fans and experts.

Mayfield threw four interceptions in the entire game. Three of those horrible INTs directly resulted in Green Bay touchdowns. In the post-game interview, Mayfield apologized for the way he played. “I hurt this team”, said Mayfield.

It came as no surprise when the Browns’ QB was heavily criticized for his poor performance. But the line of criticism was crossed when Mayfield started receiving death threats. Emily Mayfield, wife of the QB said in a post on social media that her husband was getting death threats.

“It’s crazy how much negativity is amplified via social media”, said Emily. Everybody expected Mayfield to receive some backlash from the fans after the loss to the Packers but the way fans have reacted completely disrespects the integrity of the game.

Emily wrote that the lies which are being told about her husband and the blatant disrespect he is being subjected to are completely unacceptable and unreasonable. She also stated that she prays for the ones who give such threats and completely forget all limits while criticizing someone.

“The death threats, lies being told about my husband, and blatant DISRESPECT never ceases to amaze me,” she said. Baker Mayfield was drafted No.1 overall in 2018 by the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback has had a rocky season this year giving rise to criticism.

Emily had to take to social media to defend her husband on multiple occasions. But it’s clear, she believes his detractors have now crossed a line. Such instances must be kept away from every sport. Criticism of a player’s performance is acceptable but a personal attack is something completely unacceptable.
