Tom Brady made a dramatic comeback into the NFL, about 40 days after he announced his retirement from the game. The veteran quarterback returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers set-up for the 2022 season, making a U-turn from his initial decision of retiring in order to spend more time with his family.

Brady’s return was speculated ever since the quarterback announced his retirement, and it turned out that way. This news came in much to the delight of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise and their fans, who were fretting over the uncertainty of the situation.

Buccaneers General manager, Jason Licht was visibly very excited to have Tom Brady back for the 2022 season, as it solves one of their major problems and takes them on route to challenge for another Super Bowl title, after missing out closely last year. Licht said that Brady’s return gave them a ‘sense of relief’.

Speaking in the press conference meant for the resigning of Chris Godwin, Jason Licht also spoke on Tom Brady’s return for the first time since the development took place last week. Licht said that the franchise always had faith in Tom Brady that he would eventually return to the franchise.

“Well, in this business you have to be ready to expect the unexpected, but you also have to have plans either way. There was nothing I could do about it at that point. We had a lot of faith in thinking that he might change his mind, that he might come back, but we had to have plans either way,” Licht said.

Tom Brady did not require much talking to, in order to be convinced to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers set up for the 2022 season. Bruce Arians was also part of the discussion alongside Jason Licht, despite rumours surrounding the coach and the quarterback’s strained relationship over the past couple of weeks.

Jason Licht finished off by saying, “Now when he decided that he was going to un-retire, we had several conversations – myself and Bruce were a major part of that. There was a sense that it could happen but didn’t have any definites until later on, probably around the same time Chris heard, got his text message. I had talked to him, and Bruce knew he was going to put a statement out. That was a great day, just like today is a great day.”
