“Byron Leftwich does a great job,” Bucs new HC Todd Bowles has high praise for offensive coordinator

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did a great job of retaining their offensive coordinator, Byron Leftwich for the upcoming NFL season. The Jacksonville Jaguars were very close to appointing Leftwich as their head coach but the move fell through and it was eventually Doug Pederson who earned the role.
The fallen move has greatly benefited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are currently going through a change at the helm of the franchise, with Bruce Arians stepping down from the role. Bucs new head coach Todd Bowles is looking forward to working with Byron Leftwich and praised him for the job he has done so far at the franchise.

Bowles also said that Byron Leftwich was the first person he spoke to after getting out of his office and is extremely happy at the prospect of working with him closely for the coming 2022 season.
“I think Byron does a great job,” Todd Bowles said, via Greg Auman of TheAthletic.com. “He was the first one I talked to when I came out of the office. We sat down and had a great talk. Me and Byron get along so well that it’s really unbelievable to just have a guy in place that understands what he’s doing that you trust wholeheartedly.”
“I think he’s very good at what he does. And I don’t expect him to be with us long, because [if] we do what we’re supposed to do this year, he’ll have one [a head coaching job] next year. But I understand the ball bounces differently sometimes.
Byron Leftwich’s association with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers goes way back to when he was a NFL player. The current offensive coordinator played a single season in 2009 and then returned to their coaching setup in 2019. He immediately tasted success with them winning the Super Bowl title under Bruce Arians in 2020.
Todd Bowles continued his praise for Leftwich saying, “But I’m ecstatic to have him back. I know he knows how I feel about him. I think the world of him. And we’ve got a lot of coaches on the staff who feel the same way and a lot that I think very highly of, so I can’t wait to get to work.”
