C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young are currently the most exciting QB prospects in the world. Either of them can be the No.1 draft pick for the NFL 2023 draft. Both the QBs are similar in a lot of ways while also being completely different from each other. Stroud and Young both have spectacular quality with the ball and are extremely athletic.
In 2021, Stroud was named the starting quarterback for Ohio State. He had an impressive first season, throwing for 3,862 yards and 38 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten championship and a spot in the Rose Bowl, where they defeated the Utah.
Stroud is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in college football and is expected to be the first overall draft pick in the NFL. On the other hand, Young committed to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide and joined the team in 2020. In his first year with the Tide, he served as the backup to Patriots QB Mac Jones and saw limited action in nine games.
in 2021, Young was named the starting quarterback for Alabama. He had a remarkable first season, throwing for 4,509 yards and 46 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He led the Crimson Tide to an SEC championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, where they defeated the Georgia Bulldogs to win the National Championship. The 21-year-old QB also won the Heisman trophy during his time in college football.
Who’s going to be the No.1 overall pick between Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud?
C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young have shown time and time again that they deserve to be the No.1 overall pick for the NFL 2023 draft. However, there can only be one pick and only the best will be drafted as the first.
Stroud is a complete natural passer of the ball and has great skill from throwing in the pocket. His performance was exceptional during the workout where he shined while throwing from the pocket. Stroud gave everyone Peyton Manning vibes as he thrives in the pocket and is extremely comfortable there.
However, he also has the ability and the athleticism to move out from the pocket if danger prevails. The 21-year-old’s timing and precision makes him a dream for every offensive coordinator around. His game also doesn’t have that many weaknesses and can prevail in any situation. Stroud is a natural once-in-a-generation talent.
On the other hand, Bryce Young is the complete opposite of Stroud. The Heisman trophy winner is one of the best QBs with the ball in his class. It seems like Bryce has trained himself to complete perfection as every single pass of his lands directly at the center of the catcher. His ball placement and accuracy are commendable.
However, his most important strength can be his awareness of the game of football. Bryce Young has showcased great awareness and that helps him release the ball way before the receiver has started to make his run. However, his 5’10 height can be his downfall and probably dissuade teams from not drafting him as the first pick.
The Panthers are firmly going to draft the first overall pick. It is highly believed that C.J. Stroud will be the one that the Panthers draft. However, Bryce Young is a close second.
