“He’s a legend” Twitter reacts as Case Keenum is traded to the Buffalo Bills
Case Keenum
A few days after the Cleveland Browns made a blockbuster move to trade for Deshaun Watson, they’re involved with another QB trade. This time it’s them shipping Case Keenum to the Buffalo Bills for a 7th round pick.
Case Keenum signed with the Browns ahead of the 2020 season where he was to be Baker Mayfield’s backup. 2021 was his second season of doing so however, he did start 2 games at the end of the year and won both of them.
Keenum has been a journeyman quarterback in the NFL having played for 6 franchises to this point in his career with Buffalo being the 7th. He’s most well known for his 2017 season in which he led the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship game before falling to the eventual Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, Keenum finds himself moving to the AFC East to once again be a backup, this time to Josh Allen.

Case Keenum no longer needed as a backup in Cleveland
With Deshaun Watson now poised to be the franchise quarterback in Cleveland. It seems like Baker Mayfield will certainly be traded away this offseason. That left many people thinking that Case Keenum would remain with the Browns to back up Watson. However, Cleveland has gone a different route.
The Browns recently signed Jacoby Brissett to be Deshaun Watson’s backup. While Watson is unlikely to face any criminal charges, he still seems very likely to face a suspension from the NFL. That means for at least some part of the season, Cleveland needs someone starting at quarterback.
With that in mind, they’ve favored Brissett over Keenum to be their gap quarterback for the eventual suspension. In terms of the Bills, they were in need of a backup quarterback for Josh Allen after Mitch Trubisky elected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers and try and win a starting job over there.
With their new backup quarterback acquired, Bills fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions.
