“Turn me up,” Twitter Reacts as Chris Godwin signs 3-year contract extension with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suddenly look a side to beat, after a series of events unfolded recently in favour of the 2020 Super Bowl winners. The Bucs have reportedly signed Wide receiver Chris Godwin on a 3 year deal, which is estimated to be worth $60 million.
Godwin will receive $40million guaranteed and will finally evade the franchise tag, with which he has had to play for the past couple of seasons. The contract means that the 26-year old will once again become a free agent when he turns 29 giving him opportunities to bag in a better deal then.
Chris Godwin is currently recuperating from a ACL tear which he suffered last season
Chris Godwin has been one of the stalwarts in offense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he suffered an ACL tear last season in Week 15, he still ended up being the most lethal of the recievers for the Bucs at the end of the season
His personal tally recorded 1,103 yards receiving, five touchdowns and a career-best 98 receptions. Godwin is currently undergoing rehabilitation from his ACL tear and is about 40 percent fit at the moment, as confirmed by Bucs coach Bruce Arians during the NFL combine event earlier this month.
The Buccaneers’ have once again started building a deadly roster which would help them challenge for the Super Bowl again this year. After Tom Brady decided to return to the NFL, they had one of their major quarterback problems solved.
Brady’s return to the Buccaneers was also followed up with a contract extension for Ryan Jensen and Carlton Davis.
