Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers had an incredible rookie campaign last season. However, nearing the end of the season, he was embroiled with law enforcement agencies after an alleged domestic assault. The NFL started their own investigation and now have cleared the rookie due to lack of evidence.
Since the incident took place, the NFL took their time to investigate if Zay Flowers had violated the Personal Conduct Policy. Now the league has come out officially to confirm that they are clearing Flowers.
Following a review, the NFL concluded there was insufficient evidence to support a finding that Zay Flowers engaged in any activity that violated the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. There will be no action taken by the league and Flowers remains eligible to participate in all team activities.NFL’s official statement said
Report by NBC Sports suggested that Flowers is now clear to join his team. The rookie can now breathe a sigh of relief and train alongside his teammates.
In early February, the Baltimore County Police and the Acton Police Department had begun an investigation after Flowers was alleged to have committed domestic assault. The department, however, suspended the investigation by the end of the month without filing any charges.
Zay Flowers’ return brings further excitement for the Ravens
Had Flowers been on the receiving end of any disciplinary action from the league, it would have had an immediate impact on the Baltimore Ravens. He is as of now the lead wide receiver on the squad after they chose not to resign Odell Beckham Jr. His availability helps the Ravens take a measured approach when looking for a partner for their rookie wideout.
Flowers is gearing up for a breakout year this season. His numbers will only grow since notching 858 yards from 77 receptions last season. Add to that the healthy return of star tight end Mark Andrews ensures that Lamar Jackson would have both his trustworthy targets on the field. If the Ravens can manage to sign another potent receiver, the sky is the limit for their offense.
After all, with the likes of Derrick Henry in the backfield, defenses will be second guessing most of the time. Zay Flowers can seize the opportunity to establish himself as one of the best in the league.
