Death penalty sought against the man who killed former NFL player Brandon Short’s pregnant daughter

Brandon Darrell Short made a name for himself by giving memorable performances in the biggest sporting league of the world. The supremely talented linebacker was active in the NFL for as many as seven seasons. Prior to that, he played college football for Penn State University.
Brandon played professionally for the Giants and Panthers. In fact, he was an active part of the Giants’ team that played in Super Bowl XXXV. However, not long ago, tragedy struck Brandon’s house when his daughter was mercilessly murdered.

Brandon was left dejected and broken when his beloved daughter was found fatally shot in the head in 2021. 26-year-old at that time, Karli, was actually pregnant at the time of her death.
Recently, as reported by totalprosports.com, the Allegheny County District’s Attorney’s office announced that it intends to seek the death penalty against the main accused in the case named Isaac Smith.
Smith mercilessly shot Karli to death in McKeesport in September 2021. According to the Investigators, Smith is actually the father of that unborn child of Karli. Brandon had written about his daughter’s untimely demise in a Facebook post.
“My heart is broken. I’ve lost the light of my life, my oldest daughter Karli passed away this morning in a senseless act of gun violence,” Short wrote. “The love she had was so pure and true,” he shared. “The world lost a beautiful soul. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and please keep our family in your prayers as we struggle through this difficult time,” he had written.
