“What a dramatic turnaround”: Deshaun Watson finally agrees to join Cleveland Browns; Baker Mayfield to be traded

After a disastrous season, it was evident that the Cleveland Browns will look to make some drastic changes. One man who looked most likely to face the ax was Baker Mayfield. As a result, the Browns Browns met Deshaun Watson a few days ago.
Post that, Baker took to Twitter to post a lengthy thank you not suggesting that he wants to ply his trade elsewhere. However, it was then reported that Deshaun refused to join the Browns and that Mayfield wanted a trade which left them in a spot of bother.

However, what comes as another twist in the tale, Deshaun Watson has again changed his mind and is ready to join the Browns. Watson himself confirmed the news on Instagram, writing “Cleveland, LETSSSS GOOOO!! DawgPound Ready To Work!“
Moreover, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport also confirmed Deshaun’s deal with the Browns and added that the Cleveland-based franchise will now trade Baker Mayfield. “Deshaun Watson will be the new QB of the Cleveland Browns. A real thing. The Browns will now trade Baker Mayfield,” he wrote.
“Important contract note for Deshaun Watson, who got a 5-year, $230M contract. His base salary for 2022 is $1M, which means if he’s suspended, it’ll come out of that base,” Ian wrote on Twitter. Indeed, this is a major development for the Browns who at one stage were left stranded.
As far as Baker Mayfield is concerned, it was evident that his relationship with the Browns was about to end. Even if Deshaun wouldn’t have agreed to join the Browns, Baker would have still left the franchise as many felt he wasn’t treated the right way. It will be interesting to see where Baker finally ends up.
