Deshaun Watson’s trade shows the hypocrisy of the NFL and how the league doesn’t care about the sexual misconduct of players and owners

Deshaun Watson
The NFL was sent into a frenzy when the Cleveland Browns signed a massive contract with quarterback Deshaun Watson. The 26-year old QB who was knee-deep in sexual allegations was found not guilty was a jury. But, people are still irked by the fact that the Browns signed the former Texans’ QB.
The approval of Watson’s trade highlight a deep-seated flaw in the NFL. The league is currently riddled with sexual controversies and absolutely nothing is being done to prevent than and punish the ones accused. Rather they are offered huge chunks of money to play football.
The Browns parted ways with Baker Mayfield just to sign Deshaun Watson who is facing 22 civil lawsuits

Ann Killion of the San Franciso Chronicle expressed her contempt for the Browns acquiring Deshaun Watson. “The NFL never manages to clear the decency bar. Never fails to hide in a maze full of hypocrisy and piles of bull-patties,” Killion said. It wasn’t just Cleveland that was interested in trading for Watson despite the quarterback facing multiple civil lawsuits.
Watson was found not guilty by a grand jury for criminal charges against him for sexually assaulting over 22 women. The Browns were proud of their new addition to the roster so much so that they issued a statement in which they claimed to have completed a “comprehensive evaluation process” and found Watson “humble, sincere, and candid.”

The main reason Cleveland decided to move on from Baker Mayfield was that they needed “an adult” at the QB position, SO they went ahead and signed a player that is assumed of sexual misconduct by over two dozen women. Earlier this year, Washington Commanders owner Dan Synder was also accused by cheerleaders for the hostile work environment.
In the wake of the trade, the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center received more than 1,000 donations. The center issued a statement: “We understand the story surrounding Deshaun Watson joining the Cleveland Browns team is triggering for far too many of our friends and neighbors. For those who need additional support, please know Cleveland Rape Crisis Center is available to you 24/7/365. To the community we say, we see you. We hear your outrage. We feel it too. Every click. Every post and every tweet. Every donation sends a clear message.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is considered to be a part of the problem since he has not taken steps to improve the current state of the league. The NFL has been tarnished enough already and people are starting to hate the inner workings of the league. This needs to change and it needs to change right now!
