During the time when nobody’s life was normal due to the Coronavirus, the NFL also had to make some changes in their approach to successfully finish the 2021 season without any issues. The league had strict rules and guidelines in place for the athletes, team members, and all the coaching staff to follow. The vaccine wasn’t mandatory, but the players were encouraged to take the shot and whoever didn’t have to face more restrictions and stricter rules for safety concerns.

Due to the stricter rules and regular for the players who didn’t take the vaccine, some players allegedly faked taking the shot. The Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown and defensive back Mike Edwards were suspended by the league for allegedly providing fake vaccine cards. That incident created a massive controversy around the league and made everyone wonder who else was doing similar kinds of things.

The Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was also accused by a lot of people of lying about his Covid-19 vaccine status. So, did the 10-time Pro Bowler really fake getting a vaccine shot?

Before the start of the 2021 season, when the Packers QB was asked about his Covid-19 vaccination status, he simply replied that he was “immunized.” Besides, he also claimed that he would not judge his Packers teammates that don’t want to get the shot.

Those claims led to everyone believing that he was vaccinated, but never said that he is vaccinated to the league or his team or any of the reporters. When Rodgers tested positive for Covid, the league considered him an unvaccinated player and he had to go through the protocols for it.

Later, when Rodgers was asked about the misleading statement, the former Super Bowl-winning QB just said that he didn’t want to be painted as a selfish player by the media.

“First of all, I didn’t lie in the initial press conference,” Rodgers said. “During that time, it was a witch hunt that was going on across the league, where everybody in the media was so concerned about who was vaccinated and who wasn’t and what that meant and who was being selfish and who would talk about it, what it meant if they said it’s a personal decision and they shouldn’t have to disclose their own medical information.”

In the end, no, Aaron Rodgers did not lie about his vaccination status but simply misled the media to not come off as a selfish person. Moreover, during his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, Rodgers revealed that if the media asked about his vaccination status, he decided that he was simply “going to say, ‘I’ve been immunized’” and just hope “they didn’t follow up.”
