Josh Allen threw an overtime interception with the Divisional title on the line. Allen’s pass landed in Brandin Cooks’ arms but was swiftly intercepted by Denver Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian.
The game needed overtime after Matt Prater scored a 50-yard field goal in the final moments of the fourth quarter. Denver’s first attempt in the OT ended with a punt, leaving the Bills to score the winning points.
On 3rd & 10, Allen launched a deep ball from inside the Bills’ half. Cooks successfully intercepted the pass, feeling McMillan’s pressure on his neck. However, as they got back up from the ground, Cooks no longer had the ball. McMillan took it away from the journeyman wideout’s hands. Following a brief pause, the referee ruled the verdict in the Broncos’ favor. It was ruled an interception from Josh Allen.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy disputed the referee’s decision, confident Cooks had made a fair catch.
I will watch this till the end of time saying Cooks had total control of the ball when he hit the ground.

Dave Portnoy wasn’t the only one who thought the referee made a bad call on Josh Allen’s interception
The interception proved pivotal to the outcome. Nix drove down the other way and let Wil Lutz hit the game-winning field goal.

If the Bills had gotten the ruling in their favor, they might have pulled off a win instead of the Broncos. Portnoy continued his protest against the referee despite being a staunch supporter of the Bills’ AFC East rivals, the Patriots.

Former Bills/Chiefs/Eagles running back LeSean McCoy shared a similar opinion about the referee’s decision to stick with the interception.

On the following drive, the Broncos received a couple of defensive pass interference calls leading up to Lutz’s FG. Several people disputed the decision as well, including former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky.

That’s just bad officiating.
There should be no flags once the ball is snapped in overtime in the playoffs. Let the players decide the game.

Listen… I’ve believed in the Bills all year.

I’ve repeatedly said Josh Allen is the 2nd best QB alive.
I bet the equivalent of a decent, used Honda Civic on Buffalo today.
BUT…
ALL YEAR, I’ve had to listen to how Josh Allen is QB1, arguably the “most talented quarterback…
Several noted that the Bills’ head coach should have contested the referee’s decision by throwing the challenge flag. However, the coaches can’t throw the red challenge flag after the two-minute warning and in overtime.
The game ended 33-30, and the Broncos qualified for the AFC title game for the first time since the 2015 season, the last time the Denver club lifted the Lombardi Trophy. Allen threw 25 completions on 39 pass attempts for 283 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. The reigning league MVP further fumbled the ball three times and lost it twice.

With that defeat, Allen is now 8-7 in the playoffs. The Bills qualified as the sixth seed by finishing 12-5 in the East. Allen threw 319 completions (69.3%) for 3668 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 picks, while adding 579 yards on the ground and 14 touchdowns.
In the wild card round, the Bills defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-24. Allen had 273 yards on 28 completions and one touchdown, along with 33 yards on the ground and two scores.
