When you think of the fastest players, a few names will cross your mind. The former Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, the Las Vegas Raiders icon Bo Jackson and the Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.

But the owner of the crown for the fastest player in NFL history is none other than the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Robert Lee Hayes, also known as Bob Hayes. In fact, at one point in time, Hayes was even the fastest human on the entire planet.

At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Bullet Bob won the gold medal by setting the World Record in a 100-meter race with a time of 10.06 seconds. Furthermore, he also won another gold medal in the 4×100 relay race, which also produced a World Record time (39.06 seconds). If Hayes was the fastest human on the planet at one point, then he can certainly be crowned as the fastest player in NFL history ever.

Bob Hayes was a former American football player who played in the league for 11 years. He was drafted by the Cowboys in the 7th round of the 1964 NFL Draft. Hayes spent the next 10 years in Dallas being one of the top players in the league.

During his 10-year stint with the Dallas-based football team, Hayes caught 365 passes for 7295 yards and 71 touchdowns. After his time in Dallas, Hayes spent one year with the San Francisco 49ers before he retired from football in 1975.

Hayes won the Super Bowl ring one time in 1971. Furthermore, during his 11-year successful NFL career, he received 3 Pro Bowl nods and was named to the first-team All-Pro squad one time. Bob Hayes was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
