Former Dallas Cowboys running back coach Gary Brown passes away losing his valiant fight against cancer

The NFL has been rocked by the devastating death of Dwayne Haskins which occurred on Saturday. Just when the NFL community was looking to get over it, former Dallas Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown has passed away at the age of 52.

Gary Brown had a long history of cancer and eventually lost out on his fight after putting up a valiant effort while being at hospice care in Pennsylvania according to numerous reports.

Brown was a wide receiver during his playing days from 1991 to 1995 for the Houston Oilers. He also had a spell with the San Diego Chargers before signing with the New York Giants as a free agent before eventually retiring in 1999.

After an distinguished playing career, he moved onto coaching in his second innings. He started his journey with the Lycoming college and eventually paved his way into the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. He went on to coach the Dallas Cowboys as a running backs coach from 2013 and spent six long years with the franchise.

“Gary Brown had a big heart partnered with a big smile and a big personality. His energy and spirit were infectious,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in an emotional statement for the former coach.

The statement added, “He lit up every room he walked into and touched the lives of those who knew him in such a positive way. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He meant so much to the players he coached and the coaches he coached with.”His love for his family, football and life was evident each day. He continued to fight, and he never gave up.”
