To say rookie Jayden Daniels has bewitched every eye watching his game would certainly not be an overstatement. As he advanced to the conference championship after ending a three-decades-long draught, he’s gaining the admiration he rightly earned.
He defied all odds to secure a powerful victory for the Washington Commanders against the NFC No. 1 seed, the Detroit Lions at their home stadium. Though the Lions knew the rookie quarterback possessed a significant threat, they didn’t expect him to thwart every attempt they made to stage a comeback.
After watching his unstoppable performance in the Commanders’ second playoffs victory, an NFL General Manager texted NFL Insider Jordan Schultz about his honest thoughts on Daniels and the bright future he has in the league.
Text from an NFL GM: “Jayden Daniels is already the most poised quarterback in the entire NFC. I’ve never seen anything like this for a rookie.”

A similar praise was also given by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dan Quinn to Daniels in the regular season, appreciating him for being poised in the winning moments. The 2024 Rookie of the Year posted 22 out of his 31 completions with 299 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Breaking the prolonged NFC championship appearance draught wasn’t the only milestone the quarterback achieved this week. He made history by surpassing Andrew Colts’ record for most offensive yards by a rookie in the NFL’s history, as noted by NFL’s Grant Gordon.
Rookie star Jayden Daniels dedicates historic achievement to Washington fans
Following the historic feat and becoming the first rookie quarterback to post over 300 yards in two postseason games, Daniels expressed his thoughts on the game. He dedicated the achievement to Washington fans, who have been rooting for his moment for so long, and finally got the sweet pleasure of calling themselves contenders.
“It means a lot, man. They’ve waited a long time for this moment and this feeling, so I’m just so happy for them,” said Daniels in his post-game media interaction.
The Commanders are now set to appear in their first NFC championship game since 1992– the year they last won a Super Bowl trophy. They will face off against the winner of the divisional matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams, in order to, advance to the ultimate Super Bowl matchup.
