An NBA title is not far off for Jalen Brunson and New York Knicks says Tom Brady

The New York Knicks had one of the best off-seasons in the NBA. Adding All-Star caliber players and having their leading superstar, Jalen Brunson, take a massive pay cut are the stuff of dreams for any team. Those moves have come to the notice of the rest of the sporting world. Even the likes of NFL great Tom Brady, who was known to take pay cuts to win Super Bowls.

The 7-time Super Bowl champion was at the Fanatics Fest this past weekend. The Roommates Show held a live discussion at the Fest with Brady. When talking about Super Bowls, he said:

To win the Super Bowl is just a whole another thing. It's probably like getting to the (NBA) Finals. It’s hard to get there, and then once you get there, now you got to really compete.

To this, Jalen Brunson and fellow host and teammate Josh Hart said in unison:

“We don’t know what that is yet.”

Tom Brady smilingly replied:

“I have a feeling you’re gonna get there.”

Having noticed what they have done so far, Brady believes the New York Knicks have a legitimate shot at reaching the NBA Finals. As long as they can keep the team together.

Tom Brady knows how important it is to have a team around you who can help you win championships. He was part of the famous New England Patriots system that won six Super Bowls. More importantly, three of them came when he took pay cuts to help bring in good players.

Pay cuts are a brilliant move to help teams bring in good players. That helps the team become a brilliant sum of its parts. Other teams also have multiple superstars. But the Knicks have something that can run longer than those teams.

Jalen Brunson and the Knicks are primed to fight for the NBA title

They say every cloud has a silver lining. Maybe the silver lining for the New York Knicks losing in the Eastern Conference Semis was that they understood their grit. That grit only needed a few more players to execute if they were to achieve their goal. Jalen Brunson and his Villanova Wildcats were a testament to that grit.

Now, together on the Knicks, the quartet has major help in the form of OG Anunoby and Julius Randle. If the two stars can buy into that philosophy, it will be hard for other teams to stop them. Tom Brady knows all too well what grit can do to a team.

The Knicks also have the depth to match the likes of the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. It will now come down to how they manage minutes and injuries to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles. The New York Knicks are primed to bring an NBA title to the Madison Square Garden.
