The entire NFL world was shocked when the Green Bay Packers bowed down to Aaron Rodgers‘ tantrum and extended the 4x League MVP-winning quarterback to a 4-year $200 million deal that makes him the highest-paid QB in the entire league.
While some think the Packers are fools to back Rodgers and they probably won’t see a Super Bowl trip with him again. And, some believe it was a bold move to go all-in with Rodgers.

Colin Cowherd on his talk show The Herd with Colin Cowherd analyzed the Packers deal and said Aaron Rodgers is a smart man. “I don’t think Green Bay is great. I don’t think Aaron Rodgers wanted any part of Mahomes, Herbert, and Carr. I think Russell Wilson is built different than Aaron Rodgers,” Colin said.
Cowherd is of the opinion that Rodgers doesn’t wanna complicate things for himself by shifting to a division that’s already loaded with great talent. The reason he stayed in Green Bay was simple, the NFC North isn’t a competitive division. The division comprises the Packers, the Bears, the Vikings, and the Lions. Everyone in the NFL can understand why Rodgers decided to stay with the Packers.
The AFC West now has Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson. This makes it the most challenging division in the NFL. All four teams have a great roster that is being led by generational quarterbacks. Maybe staying in the NFC North is the easiest path for Rodgers to reach the Super Bowl.
“It’s not a loaded roster, it doesn’t have to be. Neither did Cinncinati. You play in a weaker division, you have one or two big circle games. Anybody on Sunday can beat anybody. Aaron Rodgers is odd, a little weird for my taste and needy but he’s not dumb. It’s an easy place (NFC North), the most easiest division, the most dysfunctional division by a mile,” Colin added.
He said Aaron Rogers might be greedy and all about comfort, but the Packers’ odds of winning the Super Bowl are 10-1 against the Broncos’ odds of 14-1 that just acquired Russell Wilson from Seattle. It’ll be interesting to see which one of these two great QBs makes it to the Super Bowl and lifts the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in their career.
