Notable players like Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham Jr, and Trevor Lawrence are among the few to accept chunks of their salaries or bonuses in crypto. Following this trend, the Houston Texans have created history as they became the first team to sell game suites in exchange for crypto.
Houston Texans partners with BitWallet to introduce a new way to purchase game suites
Crypto was first introduced in the league by the Dallas Cowboys started a crypto sponsorship deal in April after Blockchain.com signed on to be the organization’s multi-year asset partner. Now, the Houston Texans have introduced a brand new scheme. Starting this season, fans can purchase single-game suites via crypto.
This deal is a part of the team’s new business partnership with a Texas-based crypto firm BitWallet which became the official crypto wallet provider for the Texans on Tuesday. BitWallet will also provide a service through which people can exchange crypto for cash. The Texans successfully sold their first single-game suite as per their latest statement. Local digital marketing agency EWR Digital purchased the first suite in exchange for crypto in the history of football.
A game suite is a luxury private viewing box in the stadium packed with buffets, expensive alcohol, TVs, bathrooms, and a spectacular view of the game. As of yet, there has been no mention mentions about buying regular season tickets via crypto. Additionally, the Texan’s website didn’t release the price of the single-game suite, instead is asking the customers to first submit an inquiry to secure one. However, sources have revealed that the price of a single-game suite ranges from $14,000 to $25,000. A BitWallet representative told Cointelegraph that the price may go as high as $40,000.
Looks like the future has arrived! Depending o the Texans’ success in this venture, other teams in the league might follow suit and start providing service in exchange for crypto.
