Jaxon Smith-Njigba is considered one of the top-receiving prospects in the country. The young WR was also the first receiver to be selected in this year’s draft.

The former Buckeyes WR was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as the 20th overall pick. Jaxon is from a family that is embroiled in sports and his brother also plays in a professional sports league.

Jaxon’s brother Canaan Smith-Njigba has proved his worth in the MLB while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is an established older brother who is a role model to Jaxon.

Canaan and Jaxon both attended the same high school in Rockwall and dominated football and baseball. However, Canaan is older and soon became a rising star which got him interested in many established universities in the country.

The siblings were introduced to the life of sports at a young age when their father, Maada Smith-Njigba, used to play as a linebacker for Stephen F. Austin State University.

Canaan Smith was drafted in the year 2017 by the established New York Yankees. The outfielder is quite proficient in his game. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has often taken inspiration from his older brother and was also present at some of his games in New York.

Canaan was traded to Pittsburgh in 2021 and that’s where his career really took off. He recorded his first RBI in 2022 against the Red Sox and his younger brother was present during the game.

2023 can prove to be a great year for the Njigba family as both brothers will now be playing professionally in two of the biggest sports league in the country.

The receivers of the NFL have changed quite a bit in recent years and have become more explosive and strong. However, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is up for the challenge, and was drafted as the first receiver of the 2023 NFL draft class.

The 21-year-old WR will be starting his career under the guidance of established WR DK Metcalf and will have a great time catching passes from QB Geno Smith. Jaxon was one of the best WRs in college football last season. This helped him get picked 20th overall by the Seahawks.

He recorded 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns while playing with the likes of Garrett Wilson, who was the offensive rookie of the season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s parents are Maada Njigba and Jami Smith and he has a solid chance to establish himself as one of the top receiving prospects in the NFL and get his career to an explosive start.
