Another Florida-based football team, the Jacksonville Jaguars has quite a rollercoaster journey to success. It’s a part of the American Football Conference (AFC), founded in 1995 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Unlike other NFL teams, the Jaguars experienced early success by qualifying for the playoffs. It was all because of the team’s first college draft pick Tony Boselli, who went on to become an All-Pro tackle. He led the Jaguars to establish as a winning franchise with a productive offense. In their inaugural season, the Jaguars recorded 9-7 and secured a spot in the AFC playoffs, led by the standout performance of quarterback Mark Brunell and wide receiver Jimmy Smith. However, they fell short against the New England Patriots in the AFC championship.
The next year, in 1997, the Jaguars again qualified for the playoffs. Shortly after that, the team added running back Fred Taylor to form a dynamic offense in 1998, that worked well for them and they won their first divisional title.
However, the franchise’s success graph went downhill pretty quickly as the 21st century began. From 2000 to 2003, the Jaguars couldn’t win more than seven games a season. They returned to the postseason in 2005 and 2007 but were outplayed by the New England Patriots, both times.

As a result, the Jaguars experienced franchise-worst records back-to-back for six seasons as they suffered double-digit losses till 2016. The next year, the team built a young star-studded defense that led them to a 10-win season along with a divisional title in their hand.
With all the ups and downs, the Jaguars have not reached the Super Bowl ever. In fact, they are part of 13 NFL teams who have never won the Super Bowl trophy. Neither do they have any Super Bowl appearances.

It was held at the Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado. The team then included running back Taylor to build a dynamic offense that led them to win the first divisional title against the Patriots at 6-20.
2000: Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans (14-33)
A few years after their first divisional title, the Jacksonville Jaguars again qualified for the playoffs, which was their second appearance in the AFC championship game. The game was held at the Alltel Stadium, in Jacksonville, Florida. They faced off against the Tennessee Titans and defeated them by 14-33.
2018: Jacksonville Jaguars vs New England Patriots (20-24)
After 2000, the Jaguars started becoming worse in the coming time. They couldn’t proceed with a good season for nearly two decades. Until 2018, when the team qualified for their third AFC championship game.
The game was held at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Jaguars again faced off against the New England Patriots and again defeated them by a close score of 20-24.
