“I want to use my platform to help young children get diagnosed early!”: Duron Harmon shares his plans for National Autism Awareness Month

Duron Harmom
Former New England Patriots star and three time Superbowl champion, Duron Harmon is passionate about providing support for autistic children. Harmon believes in giving back to the society and this is one of the ventures in social work that he’s involved in.
Much of the reason why he is involved in spreading the word about autism is because his own nephew Nic is autistic. He has earlier started an event called Karaoke Night: Singing for Autism.

Earlier in an interview, Duron Harmon was questioned whether he felt there was a responsibility from him as an athlete to start such a movement. In reply he said that God hadn’t given him this platform for nothing and that as athletes they have a job to do off the field as well.
“As professional athletes, we have a job to perform on the field and we have a job to perform off the field. God didn’t give us these platforms to worry about what we can get. It’s more how we can serve people and help people and bring light to causes that might not get the light that it needs,” he had said.
In an interview with the NFL Network, Duron Harmon was quizzed on his involvement with the National Autism Association during the National Autism Awareness Month. In reply Duron Harmon says he wants to use his platform to spread more word and referred back to his Karaoke Night at New England and how he wants to bring it to Las Vegas now. He is also in talks to become a member of the board.
“I want to use my platform and become an advocate so that young children – especially in the Black community – can have resources to be diagnosed early and get the treatment that they need.”
