“I would take him in a minute” – Colin Cowherd backs Carson Wentz, says the Colts QB will be a ‘perfect fit’ for the Broncos or the Steelers
Carson Wentz and Colin Cowherd
A team’s success is a cumulative effort of the players, coaching staff, trainers among others. But the centerpiece to the formula of success rests in a good quarterback. If a team has a QB that is great in all aspects then the team is sure to see accolades.
Now that the offseason has started, teams are making their moves to upgrade their current QBs for better ones to have a chance at the Super Bowl. Colin Cowherd on his talk show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” talked about Carson Wentz, signal-caller for the Indianapolis Colts, and how he’s can help a team be a strong Super Bowl contender.
“Carson Wentz has better completion percentage than Josh Allen” – Colin Cowherd defends the Colts QB
Carson Wentz was traded to the Colts in the 2021 season by the Philadelphia Eagles. During training camp, Wentz suffered a foot injury that required surgery and missed the first few games of the season. Indianapolis completed the season with 9-8 and missed the playoffs after a choking loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18.
The No.2 overall pick had a great season with the Colts despite his injury. He threw for 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and a 94.6 passer rating. Still, reports suggest that the Colts will be moving on from Wentz coming free agency. “You’re just gonna move off him?” Colin said shockingly. “If I was Denver or Pittsburgh and didn’t get Aaron Rodgers, I would take Carson Wentz in a New York minute.”
Cowherd likes to play the ‘Blind Resume game’ where he compares the stats of two QBs where one of the QB is not revealed until evaluation. First, he compared Wentz’s 62.4 completion percentage against a WB with a 63.3 completion percentage. Now, for the big reveal, the quarterback turned out to be Josh Allen. The guy who led his team to the divisional round has a lesser completion percentage than Carson Wentz.
Carson Wentz has achieved more with less in his time with the Colts
“The Colts have a bottom 10 receiver room. It’s Michael Pittman Jr. and a bunch of guys,” Colin added. In an era where tight ends and wide receivers are dominating the offense, Colin pointed out that Wentz had a 9-8 winning season without a top 10 or even top 20 receiving and tight end room.
Maybe the Colts are making a mistake by trading Carson Wentz to a team that why a way better WR and TE group than their own. Aaron Rodgers is the No.1 QB for teams to fight over if he decides to leave Green Bay. But Wentz can make an impact in Denver and Pittsburgh if Rodgers stays with the Packers.
