With multiple head coaching vacancies available in the NFL, here are the teams that would be a good fit for Bill Belichick.

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have gone their separate ways after 24 long years. His successful tenure which witnessed the team winning six Super Bowls out of the 9 appearances combined with his stellar record has made him the greatest coach of all time. He did not just imbibe a winning culture in New England but inculcated a mentality which will be next to impossible to replicate.
The bigger question now is, what does the future hold for Bill Belichick? He has not said that he intends to retire from coaching, so there is a good chance that he will coach another team in the NFL. This season has been nothing short of a nightmare for HCs across the league because the Raiders, Chargers, Falcons, Titans, Panthers, Commanders, and Seahawks have all parted ways with their coaches.
Some of the aforementioned teams have a good roster but the primary issue for their performance was due to the coaching. Bill Belichick has the potential to make an immediate impact if he were to get an opportunity to coach some of these teams. Let’s take a look at the best landing spots for him and the possibility of him going to these teams.
The best landing spots for Bill Belichick:
Los Angeles Chargers
Well, this is just stating the obvious. With Brandon Staley out as the team’s HC, the Los Angeles Chargers have become the hottest destination for coaches to consider. While rumors have indicated that the team is inclined toward getting Jim Harbaugh on board, this was before Bill Belichick was available.
Now, Harbaugh is not the only coach they would have their eyes set on. The Chargers have the potential to be a great team, the offense is young and Justin Herbert is a quarterback who is reliable when coached right. Belichick is a defensive mastermind, on that front, there is no need to worry because he will ensure the team’s defense gets back on track.
The question is whether the organization would be willing to give Belichick the autonomy to operate. The man does not like to have to report to a general manager and be controlled.
Belichick to the Chargers seems like a very plausible situation. However, it will remain contingent on whether or not Jim Harbaugh accepts the coaching job.
Las Vegas Raiders
Why the Raiders? Has the team not found an HC in Antonio Pierce? Well, it’s complicated. The reason being, the locker room is standing with AP but as history tells us, Mark Davis has a mind of his own. Davis has acknowledged the incredible work Pierce has done as he led the team to a 5-4 record to close the season.
He hired Josh McDaniels because of how well-versed he was with the Patriot way, as he had worked under Belichick. But now that the student failed and the teacher himself is available, why would this opportunity not entice him?
Davis is likely to at least entertain this thought. Defensively, Belichick can achieve wonders with the Raiders. Note that despite rookie Aidan O’Connell having a mediocre season, the team managed to win games. They beat the Kansas City Chiefs with their quarterback barely throwing any passes in the second half.
The Raiders have Jimmy G on their roster, while he has failed to show up this season, the last time Belichick and Garoppolo were on the same side, the man was on track to replace Tom Brady. Can Belichick revive Jimmy G’s career while leading the Las Vegas Raiders to a Super Bowl? It is very possible.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons did not make it into the list just because of the possibility of Belichick leading the very team he orchestrated one of the greatest comebacks of all time against to win a Super Bowl. Ok, maybe that is one of the reasons the team made this list.
Jokes apart, Arthur Smith was not the man for the job, the Falcons have shown glimpses this season where the team’s defence has looked elite. Offensively, they have the weapons but never utilized them to their true potential. Bill Belichick would be the perfect fit in Atlanta. In many ways, he is the missing piece this team needs to get back into the playoffs.
Desmond Ridder is a competent QB, Kyle Pitts is one of the best tight ends in the NFL, and Drake London is a wideout with immense potential. The team needs guidance and when you take into account all the above factors, Belichick to the Falcons is the best-case scenario.
Tennessee Titans
Belichick to the Titans? It seems hard to even imagine. But it is a possibility that cannot be ruled out. The primary reason is Mike Vrabel. The former HC of the team achieved immense success in his six years and he combined his knowledge of the game with his experience of playing in New England.
He is yet another example of how the Patriot way failed to work without Bill Belichick. The Titans require a coach who can establish a culture in the building and one who has proven credentials. Thereby, Bill Belichick would be a great fit with the team.
However, the only concern would be Amy Adams Strunk. One of the reasons she let Mike Vrabel was because she was reluctant to grant him more autonomy. Belichick and her would clash on an ideological front and that would not work out well for the team. That is why the Titans are an unlikely choice for Belichick to consider.
There are other teams in the NFL such as the Washington Commanders, Seattle Seahawks, and the Carolina Panthers that have head coaching vacancies too. But these are not teams that Belichick is likely to consider.
The Commanders are a team that does not know which direction they are headed in, there is a lot of work to be done and it is doubtful if Belichick would want to take up this task at this juncture. The Seattle Seahawks are likely to bring in a younger coach and again, Belichick is not very liked in the city because, well, Malcolm Butler. That is really all that needs to be said.
Finally, the Carolina Panthers, are a good team, there are players with a lot of potential aboard such as Bryce Young himself. But David Tepper hates the idea of giving up control and that situation is not one that Belichick would wish to put himself in.
