“I’m here to help Jameis Winston out,” Andy Dalton happy to play 2nd fiddle at New Orleans Saints
Andy Dalton has found himself constantly on the move over the past 4 seasons in the NFL. A veteran quarterback in the division, the 34-year old earned a trade move to the New Orleans Saints from the Chicago Bears ahead of the 2022 season.
With the Saints, he is all set to play as the second choice quarterback for the franchise, backing up first choice Jameis Winston. After a successful tenure of over 8 years with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-19, Andy Dalton is slowly entering the twilight years of his career.
Andy Dalton signed a 1-year contract with the New Orleans Saints
Andy Dalton has signed a 1-year contract with the Saints. The franchise have not had their luck at finding quality quarterbacks after the retirement of Drew Brees, but is banking on Jameis Winston to do the job for them this season.
“This is his thing, and I’m here to help him out in any way that I can,” Dalton said Thursday in his introductory news conference with the Saints.
“So, I’m excited to work with him, excited to be in the same room, and see everything I can do to help him out to make him the best player he can be.”
Andy Dalton said that he’ll try his level best to work with Jameis Winston and get the best out of him thoughout the season. For a quarterback who has been a three-time Pro Bowler, making such statements is not easy, but Dalton has shown his humility towards the role he has been assigned for the New Orleans Saints.
