Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay calls Carson Wentz’s era “a mistake” at the franchise

The Indianapolis Colts have finally got their way, with the trade of Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. The Colts signed him in for the 2021 season, but the 29-year old quarterback had a horror time with the franchise, as they failed to make it into the playoffs.
After getting rid of him, Colts owner Jim Irsay spoke on the quarterback, and how desperate they were to get a trade move from him away from the franchise. Irsay did not mince his words on Carson Wentz slamming him for his performances last year.

“I think the worst thing you can do is have a mistake and try to keep living with it going forward,” Jim Irsay said while speaking on his former quarterback via the Indy Star. “For us, it was something we had to move away from as a franchise. It was very obvious.”
Jim Irsay was specially critical of Wentz’s performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a match which they badly lost by a margin of 26-11. According to Irsay, the Jaguars are the worst team in the league, and such a result was simply unacceptable for the franchise.
“No disrespect to Jacksonville, but I mean, they’re the worst team in the league. You play well and hard for the first quarter or so, and they’re looking to go to their locker room and clean it out. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life,” Irsay said. “You say, ‘My God, there’s something wrong here.’ It needs to be corrected. I think that we feel like we did.”
To replace Carson Wentz, Jim Irsay’s side have roped in Matt Ryan as their No.1 quarterback for the upcoming season, who according to their owner is a great pick for their side.
