There’s no denying that the New York Giants’ head coach, Brian Daboll, is on the hot seat. Insider sources indicated that even though he remains in charge for now, bad results will eventually end his tenure.

After eleven weeks of football, the Giants stand with a 2-8 record and are almost out of a first playoff appearance since 2022. On top of it, the front office demoted quarterback Daniel Jones to fourth choice.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz indicated similar treatment for Daboll if he fails to show some sort of spark in the remaining games. During Wednesday’s segment of the Breakfast Ball on FOX Sports, Schultz revealed that Daboll’s job isn’t secured either.

I would say that Joe Schoen is probably safer right now than Brian Daboll. I think Brian, as it’s been clear to me, is coaching for his job over the last seven weeks.

Schultz said.

The Big Blue’s turmoil is a recurring theme in football. They have had just one winning season in seven years and have yet to win a playoff game for thirteen years (since 2011).

The pair of Daboll and Schoen received much criticism for failing to draft a new quarterback and then refusing to give Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley a new deal and eventually losing him to the Eagles, where he has found a second stride in his career.

Brian Daboll catches strays from his quarterback

The tension among the Giants’ ranks appears to be growing at a rapid pace. Ever since the announcement of Jones becoming the fourth-string quarterback, several teammates have defended the Duke graduate by calling out the move as unfair.

Daboll caught strays from one of the quarterbacks who was in line to replace Jones. Drew Lock was the favorite to get the job until Tommy DeVito bagged it. When reporters asked him the reason behind the sudden decision to skip him over, Lock had a question mark on his face.

That’s a question that I might still have for myself. It was expressed to me that I was going to be the 2. Interesting situation.

Lock replied.

The Giants brought Lock in after his contract ran out at the Seattle Seahawks. He signed a one-year $5 million contract and the promise to be the backup to Jones as Daboll and Schoen kept faith in him despite returning from an ACL injury. Lock stayed content to back him up and wait for a chance, but when it arrived, the Giants chose DeVito.
