Stetson Bennett in the 2023 Draft
After leading the Georgia Bulldogs football team to back-to-back national champions in the last two years, Stetson Bennett became a local legend in Athens. He is now looking to lead an NFL franchise to Super Bowl glory and has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 2022 Heisman Trophy finalist Bennett did not hear his name on the first day of the draft, which is happening in Kansas City. However, there are still six rounds remaining in the draft. He’ll have to wait some more to find out his fate in the league.
When will Stetson Bennett get drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft?
Despite his accomplishments at the college football level, Stetson Bennett is not receiving a lot of interest from the NFL teams. His age and size are the cause of concerns for the teams per reports.
“Bennett’s size (5’11”, 192 pounds) is bound to be a concern for some teams. And many interviewed have non-football concerns about Bennett, who was arrested for public intoxication on Jan. 29 and did not receive universally high marks on combine interviews,” said ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler about Bennett just a few weeks ago.
Some people around the league believe the 2-time national champion Stetson Bennett might go undrafted. However, there are plenty of teams in the NFL that need depth at the quarterback position. Teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, and Las Vegas Raiders all have starting quarterbacks but lack in depth. Those teams could use a day 3 pick to rope in the solid signal-caller Stetson Bennett.
Stetson Bennett’s net worth is around $3 million and he is likely to be drafted on Day 3 by a team who is looking to add depth in the quarterback position. Bennett would be a solid backup in the NFL and who knows maybe if he gets the chance he could one day become a full-time starter in the league.
