Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs’ running back, was selected in the NFL draft in 2022. Fans are already curious about the player’s background and family details, as he has been a gem of a find for Kansas based franchise.
But first, let’s learn more about the player before we move on to that. Isiah Pacheco was born in Vineland, New Jersey, on March 2, 1999, and was raised with Dominican and Puerto Rican ancestry. From a young age, he knew what he was interested in, and football became his sport.
Because Vineland High School saw his greatest potential as a quarterback and even as a running back, he stood out on the Vineland Blitz team. The Fighting Clan prevailed over their rival Thunderbolts and won the Thanksgiving Day Classic as a result of his efforts in his senior year.
After graduating from high school, the player received scholarships from prestigious colleges, but he ultimately decided to play football at Rutgers University. Due to his consistent playing time, he finished his college career with amazing 563 attempts, 2,442 yards, and 18 touchdowns.
Pacheco’s NFL ambitions were realized when the Kansas City Chiefs selected him as a running back as the 251st overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He ran for three yards in his NFL debut against the Arizona Cardinals, scoring his first rushing touchdown. Pacheco has been an integral part of Chiefs successful campaign in the 2022-23 season.
What happened to Isiah Pacheco’s siblings?
Growing up, Isiah Pacheco faced many challenges. His parents worked tirelessly to provide for him and his siblings, Travoise and Celeste, but life was often difficult.
Isiah had seen enough as a child to understand that he needed to support and defend his family. When he was studying in high school, he lost his brother and sister in just two years span, leaving him in despair. The tragedy stayed with them even before Isiah realized how difficult life could be.
One of his siblings, Travoise, was stabbed in his Bridgeton apartment when he was just 29, resulting in his death. When his brother was murdered, Celeste, his younger sister, became closer and was always together uplifting each other’s spirits. They spent a jolly time that was able enough to blur the flashes of his brother’s tragic incident.
But later, his dear sister Celeste was found dead at her Millville home in 2017. She succumbed to a gunshot wound on her head that shook Pacheco and his family from within. Donald Scurry Jr. was further detained for this incident and was given a 65-year prison term for murder. These tragic incidents left a deep mark on his heart as he was left alone with no one to call him brother anymore.
These losses left Isiah feeling alone and filled with despair. But he channeled his grief into determination and strength. He clung to the memories of his brother and sister and used them as motivation to become an accomplished football player. With the support of his loving parents, Isiah transformed his pain into power, pushing himself to new heights on the field.
Despite the obstacles he faced, Isiah never lost his resolve. He remained steadfast and persevered, using the love and encouragement of his parents to overcome any challenge. Today, the three of them live together in New Jersey, where Isiah continues to honor his siblings by playing with passion and heart every time he steps onto the field. Through his unwavering spirit and resilience, Isiah has shown that love and family can help us overcome any obstacle and emerge even stronger.
