Tom Brady announced his return to the NFL after 40 days of retirement. The news was music to the ears of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise, who welcomed him back with open arms as the signal-caller for the 2022 season.

After failing to reach the Super Bowl last year, the 44-year old QB had announced his retirement from the game in order to spend more time with his family. This move rattled the front office of the Bucs since they didn’t have a backup plan in place if Brady were to retire.

Tom Brady had a sensational season last year. He raked up 5,316 yards for 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and many argued that he should’ve been the MVP rather than Aaron Rodgers. Given Brady’s elite performance, it was evident that he would return back to play football but not after 40 days!

Head coach Bruce Arians acknowledged the fact that Brady’s return puts Tampa Bay back into the Super Bowl contention. “The way he played last year, it might have been his best year ever,” Arians said. “There’s no drop off — Week 16, playoffs, he was on fire. And there won’t be any drop off this year.

“They know what Tom brings and we got a shot for another ring. And that’s it. That’s bottom line,” Arians said. “It’s all about the ring again. Not reloading, not seeing who’s going to do this, who’s going to do that, how we are we going to fit this guy in. Everybody knows their role again right now.

The 7x Super Bowl champion has that aura around him that motivates the entire locker room to fight for that ring. That’s exactly what Tom Brady did with the Buccaneers his first season with them. Now that he’s returned, he’ll move heaven and earth to get himself that 8th ring. And there hasn’t been any signs of decline in Brady’s performance so he just might satiate his hunger for being the best by adding another Lombardi Trophy to his collection.
