“Its set up for success with Jameis Winston,” Drew Brees backs QB to make long-term impact for the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints struggled last season, to replace their veteran quarterback Drew Brees who had retired just a season before. With the position still up for grabs at the franchise, the Saints have backed young quarterback Jameis Winston to ease into the role since the last year.

The Saints have made it clear that they will continue to play Winston this season too, and the move has been approved by their former quarterback, Drew Brees. The 43-year old recently revealed his choice as to who can make up an impact at the franchise for a long term.

Jameis Winston earned massive praise from his predecessor and it will hold him in good stead when he prepares himself for a full season as the first choice quarterback for the franchise.

Drew Brees was of the opinion that new Saints head coach Dennis Allen should build a side around Winston and it will fetch them great results for the seasons to come. Winston played only 7 matches in the previous season and his record was quite decent but the franchise will hope for more from the 28-year old.

“So, I think it’s set up for success with Jameis,” Brees said. “You continue to build pieces around him, that will help him be successful. I think the defensive side of the ball has incredible leadership and has been playing at a really, really high level here for the last few years.”

Jameis Winston has earned the approval of quite a few of his teammates which must have helped him build confidence ahead of a testing NFL season that beckons him.
