“I’ve accomplished all there is to do” – Malcolm Jenkins 2x Super Bowl champ announces retirement after 13 seasons

Malcolm Jenkins, safety for the New Orleans Saints has decided to finally hang up his cleats after 13 glorious seasons in the NFL. The 34-year old safety is a 2x Super Bowl champion along with 3 Pro Bowl nods.

Jenkins announced on Wednesday on the Pivot podcast that he has decided to leave football behind and start a new chapter of his life on his own terms.

Malcolm Jenkins was selected 14th overall by the Saints in the 2009 NFL draft. Jenkins started for the Saints for 5 seasons during which he won Super Bowl XLIV and then became an unrestricted free agent in 2013. He was then picked up by Philadelphia Eagles to a 3-year deal. He was part of the Eagles team that defeated Tom Brady and the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. After his contract with the Eagles ended, he came back a full circle and was signed by the Saints.

Finally, after 13 seasons of victories, Super Bowls, records, and a trunk full of memories, Jenkins announced his retirement. “I’ve accomplished Super Bowls, Pro Bowls, all that there is to do in this game. When I came in I always wanted to make an impact on the game on and off the field, and I feel like at this point, I’ve accomplished that,” Jenkins said via the podcast.
